#nanowrimo book cover design!

As you know if you’re following this, I won’t actually start writing the book until Nov. 1. But I have character sketches, a plot outline, and a working title. Why not go ahead and design the cover?

I should clarify I do this for a living – so it’s a bit instinctual for me to want to hop on the design. Despite what everyone says, of course a book is judged by its cover!

Need your help though! Which cover design do you like, which photo of me, which fonts and what do you think of the colors? In other words – anything can be changed. OK, here goes: (This should be obvious, but you are seeing the back cover, the spine, and the front cover all together)

Cover option 1:

Cover option 2:

    OH, how fun!
I like the last picture of you and the first cover. See! You’re making it so easy to publish 🙂

Wow! These are so cute and well done! I like the last cover best. The sparkle of the diamond really stands out against the brown cover! It’s classy.

I definitely like the second picture!!! I like the third cover (pink) but I say add more flowers or something and less words on the very front. Great job! Can’t wait to read it!!!

Of course this all entirely subjective but I’m partial to # 3 & 4. It targets my girlishness. The question is does it target boyishness as well? You may want to think about that. If you want to target men and women you might think #2.

I like the brown and pink scheme best. #3 stands out and if you were ever to physically publish it would certainly sit on the stacks and get attention.

    They all look great.

Of course picture on #2 because I was in it.

And now that I’m thinking about it, I’m leaning towards the three flowers because it’s more of a direct reference to the title. But then again, are they flowers? Hmm… simplicity is key… bottom two.

I like the simplicity of #1 and the whimsy of #3, so I am having a hard time deciding…I think maybe a VERY soft pink for #3, though, instead of the darker pink. Check out the cover of “Something Borrowed” by Emily Giffin. The shade of pink on that cover worked well.

Hi, very nice! I’m doing NaNo also…first time.

I liked #3 on first sight but didn’t notice the diamond ’til someone else pointed that out — so maybe declutter to focus on the diamond more? Second choice #4, but lose the pink blossom-thing as it is puzzling…what’s it to do w/ the title?

I design stuff too (book covers included) – best wishes with this!
