Proposition in the backseat of a taxi

“But if I sleep with you I will fall in love with you,”
she said with eyes lowered and husky voice
her red lips so close to his that one false move
meant they’d be in over their heads.

They breathed into each other
and this decided everything.

“I have already fallen in love with you,”
was his response and she wondered if
this perfect man on this perfect evening
simply had the perfect words …

or was she – dreaming?

Cab ride home – one stop, not two

She took his hand and led him
down the hall and to her heart;
opened up the bedroom door
stopped to consider her own soul

wondered about turning back
pushed thoughts aside and let him in

because after all, if she was dreaming
that means this was only sleeping …
