So, Jeff has a conference in Vegas in a few weeks and I am fortunate enough to tag along. We’re staying at Mandalay Bay and although he’ll be busy working a lot of the week, I’ll be having fun on The Strip with or without him. This will be my fourth trip to Vegas and I always have fun when I’m there.
I’m also taking the opportunity to visit a friend in Phoenix – so I’ll be flying from Charlotte to Phoenix and then from Vegas to Charlotte. I’ll either catch a ride with him to Vegas if he wants to come along or I’ll take a flight.
I booked my tickets this morning and I’m getting super stoked! My question to you frequent travelers is this: How in the world do I make all my luggage carry-on? With a $25 checked bag fee and a potential of 3 different flights, I’d really prefer to carry on. And I’m fairly low-maintenance. But the more I think about it, the more liquids I realize I need. Shampoo, lotion, contact solution, sunscreen, makeup foundation, mascara?, hair products, etc. … Do I just buy the items I need when I get to my destination?
Also, is anyone going to be in Vegas or want to be? I’ll send you the dates if so. Would be fun to have some buddies to hang out with!

Here’s an idea make your first stop every morning at the local mall and have someone do your makeup at one of those makeup counters. If they do it bad well it will make a good blog post (don’t forget pictures). Some of the mommy bloggers get sponsored maybe you can work the graphic designer angle. Most hotels will give you soap, shampoo, conditioner and even a razor if you need it. That works anywhere except motels by the hour (just guessin maybe they do that too) Correct me if I am wrong but can’t you eat at the casinos for next to nothing.

You know, I have to say that there are still deals to be had, especially off-strip or for some of the hotel stays. That being said, rarely have I found any food deals like “the old days.” Seems since Vegas started to be more family frendly, the deals started to go the way of the dodo.
Drinks, though…gamble and free drinks can be yours. Do not forget to tip.
Maybe a real Vegas regular can give some tips, eh?
I love Chris’s idea about the makeup 🙂 that would be so much fun! and he’s right about the shampoo, conditioner, soap, and usually moutwash and lotion. However, just go to the travel section at Wal-Mart and buy the 3 oz containers. As long as you can fit the liquids into a quart size zip lock baggie, then you can carry it on. How long will you be there? If the small sizes would last you at least 1/2 the time, then you could stop by CVS on the strip and buy a refill for on the way back 🙂 My lucky roulette #’s are 1-4-3-8 Have fun!!!
