Getting my strength back

So, I’ve been working out like the old days again.

And I have to say, it feels fantastic.

The past couple of weeks I’ve been hitting the gym every day, going hard core on the stairclimber and even running on the treadmill. And yesterday I ran 3 miles in the 103 degree heat! I had to walk a lot of the third mile, and the run was kind of a last-minute decision (I’d originally been planning to go to the gym, so I hadn’t hydrated like I should for a 3-mile run). But it felt so, so good to be out there, breaking a sweat. And as gross as this sounds, there’s something so rewarding about coming in from a good run, peeling off sweaty clothes, and just being drenched in sweat before taking that lukewarm shower.

If I decide to do a marathon in December (still leaning toward Tucson, AZ), then training starts in a few weeks. And I gotta be up to 6 mile runs to begin training. I think I just may be able to pull it off!

Way to go, Melissa! Glad to see you back at it. That pre-shower feeling that you’re talking about is something that isn’t gross at all… I can vouch for the fact that it’s just as gratifying as you say. 🙂

Hi Melissa, I was just thinking about you so I decided to check out your blog and there you were with something new. I have been slack and your words just encouraged me go get back at it. Scott is here and he is in fact out, running 6 in the 80+,+humidity. Glenda

Glad one of us is. I need to get back into a regular routine. I’m under 150lbs with just diet for the first time since high school, need to add some exercise to that. Still can’t take the heat tho. Kinda sucks.

    Keep it up!
