Anyone who’s been reading my blog this past week knows I’ve been in Athens, Ga., helping Chris decorate his apartment. I mentioned in yesterday’s post that there was a concern with one of the items.
When we were at West Elm in Atlanta, we found these great window panels on sale for $29 apiece. Our very helpful salesperson, John, grabbed 3 of them for us in the 48×84″ size (we guessed on the window size; I won’t name names but somebody fogot to measure before we left …)
We got them back to Chris’ place and put them up on Thursday evening. Maybe because it was late, maybe because the window sill was cluttered with stuff that needed to be put back in its place because of the organizing, maybe because we were focused on putting together the TV stand or Grey’s Anatomy, but all seemed fine …
Yesterday morning I walked over to the windowsill to clear it off – and I saw it immediately. One of the panels was too long. I glanced at the tag – 48×96. Oh my. I called Chris at work and told him to call West Elm, and then I found the packaging for the panels. They were all labeled 48×84. Well, at least we weren’t idiots who picked up the wrong size: They actually were packaged incorrectly.
Chris spoke to a salesperson at West Elm in Atlanta, who told him they had no more of the correct panels. She checked the stock and the closest one was in Jacksonville, FL. She mailed him a return envelope to ship back the incorrect panel, and Chris called Jacksonville to order it. He explained the situation and they waived his shipping costs.
So now we’re waiting on the new panel to arrive. Chris said the West Elm salespeople were very friendly and helpful, for which I’m glad. I feel as if they handled it perfectly, since they packaged the panel incorrectly.
I mentioned all this to Jeff, who said he actually thinks the 96″ panels might look better on those windows. #$!#$@#@. At this point, I’m just happy to have 3 the same length. We’ll use the space under the window for storage or something, to make up for the panels being too short …
