I just ran 4 miles. It was harder than it should have been. All my runs lately are harder than they should be.
Running partners, I need you. You haven’t seen me lately. Don’t let me get away with it. Make me run with you. Make me run with you a lot.

Perspective, my dear.
Instead of seeing a 4 mile run being harder than it should be as a discouraging factor, look at it as an opportunity to revisit that amazing time in your life when you first started training and surprised yourself with every training session.
Positive mental attitude is the #1 key factor to proper training. Don’t see running now as punishment for not running earlier. See it as coming back to a place you love after an extended absence.
Sometimes we have good runs and sometimes we have not so great runs. It’s the bad ones that make you appreciate the good ones even more. Shake it off and don’t let it bring you down. Your next one will be great.
I’m nursing injuries this week, but Monday I’ll “run with you” if you’d like. Though you’ll probably run a lot farther and a lot faster than me, I’ll try to “keep up” 🙂
Man, I’ve been there! I agree 100% w/ Joe! And if it makes you feel better, I went from easy peasy 4 mile runs (just before Christmas) to begging to get home after walking around the block w/ my daughter yesterday.
But I have faith in both of us!

Be happy you can run 4 miles. I can’t run 1/4 mile. Seriously, don’t be discouraged by that. Just think of me and say “I don’t want to be like that guy”.

Not being a runner, I can’t be your “partner.”
However, I’m always happy to chase you with a golf cart and hot pokers. 🙂
Hang in there. You’ll get your groove back.

I wish we lived closer… you know that I’d get out and run with you if I could. Hang in there… if I can get through my time of crappy runs, I KNOW my marathon running friend can do it. 🙂 Hugs!
2 miles makes me die a little. Run with me sometime, and I guarantee you’ll feel much better when you see me huffing and puffing up hill next to you. Although, I’m not sure how laughing affects time, so it might not be a good idea.

I’m right there with you. My dr update is next week, and I fear that he will say it still hasn’t healed properly, and I fear that he will say it’s fine. Starting back over is so hard and scary, but I think that first comment hit the nail on the head!
I’ve been slacking too…. Badly…. I’ll hold you accountable if you hold me accountable. I’ve got less than 4 weeks before my 5K and I’m afraid I’m not going to make it….
I’m going running tonight. If you don’t see a Twitter update from me by tomorrow afternoon (cause i’m lazy about syncing my runs) kick my butt. I’ll do the same for you! 🙂
